Kappa Pi
Ever since I was a young kid, I have always been interested in art. Once I decided on which major I was going to study, I also had to think about my minor. Choosing a Graphic Design major and a Social Media minor was a great decision for me because I want to eventually become a social media manager or a web designer/developer. Coming into Ohio Northern as a freshman, I learned about all of the extracurricular clubs of the Art and Design department including AIGA and Kappa Pi.
Kappa Pi is the honorary fraternity for all Art and Design students. Once you have completed 12 or more credit hours worth of art and design classes, with a GPA over 2.8, you are invited to join Kappa Pi. I was given an invitation to join this honorary fraternity the spring semester of my sophomore year. Once I joined I was told all the fun activities we get to do and create for our fundraising events. Last year we worked on selling Polar Pots. They were planting pots in the shape of a polar bears head. We sold out within 2 hours! The year previous to that, they sold Redbubble stickers which is what were doing again this year.
The image attached to this blog is the sticker design I created for this years sticker sale. I thought it would’ve been nice to incorporate the 150th year logo and design it in a way that complimented the other 150th year posters and wall prints etc. I started off with finding an image of the polar bear and duplicated it and added the second bear. I over and under lapped the O N U letters with the polar bears.
After my first year joining Kappa Pi I become the secretary for the organization at the start of this fall semester. We just initiated 5 new members and I am excited to work with them on future projects!
