Final Photography Project
For today’s blog I thought I would share more of my photography. The project I am sharing from was my final project in my photography class that I took spring semester of my freshman year. Within our final we were to incorporate a little bit of all of our past projects. We had to include motion pictures, portrait pictures, and landscape while also showing the rule of thirds, different light exposures and heavy contrasts.
The over all project assignment was photograph the change in our lives and the impact COVID-19 had on our lives during quarantine. Instead of focusing on myself, I decided to capture the changes happening in my little sisters life. Included with my submission was a short paragraph describe the story behind these photos which stated, “My final project is based around my sister Ella. She is my only sister and 5 years younger than me. She has a very bright, funny personality and is a blast to be around. I’ve gotten so much closer to her since we’ve been home during the quarantine. The middle school she attends sent everyone home a week before I was sent home. My mom did not allow my sister to have any social interaction during the quarantine to keep everyone safe. She’s a very social person so being home for a couple of months with no social interaction with her friends spiraled her into a depression. That’s when it popped into my head, I wanted to take my sister out to a park and capture her emotions with being out in public. I took her to Great Bridge Lock Park which is around 10 minutes from our house. We went around 6pm so we had the perfect golden hour while we were there. This whole project I really wanted to capture my sisters natural beauty and her love for nature. With all of the changes happening in the world today, I wanted to switch it up and capture the beautiful things in life during all of the COVID-19 craziness.”
I received a 75/80 on this project. My professor said I captured all of the things we learned out in class such as composition, lighting, movement, leading lines, depth of field, focal point, rule of thirds, shadows, and contrast. I really enjoyed getting to have a special day with my sister and have some pretty incredible pictures to show from it too!
Hey Annaleia! I am really excited that you decided to incorporate more of your photography into your blog because you are a very talented photographer (I am not, but you know this.) I love how you utilized the light in these portraits of your sister, as well as motion and the other components from past projects.
