Digital Designs 757

Since this class is teaching us how to market businesses on different platforms I thought it would be interesting to share my small Etsy shop and how I go about running it! I created my shop the summer of 2020 during all the quarantine mess that was going on. Because of the quarantine, my friend and I had a lot of free time on our hands so we thought it would be a fun idea to create a tattoo design shop! I was going to handle all of the drawing aspects and designing the tattoos and my friend was going to deal with the money side of it.

It’s very easy to set up an Etsy shop. You don’t need any type of license and can set one up right from home! Since mine is a digital account its a little easier because I don’t have to fill out all the shipping information. It’s 20 cents per listening and each listening stays posted for 4 months and then is renewed for another 20 cents. However, if the item you’re selling going out of stock you will need to manually repost it for another 20 cents.

I started finding inspiration for creating my designs by thinking about what I want to get tattooed. Eventually, I will get most of these ideas tattooed on me such as the sun and moon, the baby angel, the lady on the moon, and the mushrooms. I have actually already got one of my designs tattooed on my arm and its the last one that I attached is this blog, the Creation of Adam hands with the flowers!

Going through the process of created a custom tattoo is a little different than just creating my own idea. I have a listing posted for a custom tattoo that is only 50 cents. Once someone has purchased the 50 cents listing, I will email the person and start my process of what they want created. I ask them questions like if they want any color, how much detail they want, the size and other questions like that. I tell the person I am working with that it takes 1-3 days for me to get back to them with their design. Once I am finished I will post it on my shop for them to purchase with the adjusted price. All of my designs range from $1-$15 depending on how long it takes me to complete it.

I also uploaded a picture of the stats of my shop. The line graph calculates all of the visits I have had each month for the last year. It also shows where my visits came from such as the Etsy app, from Etsy’s search, Etsy’s marketing team and SEO, direct and other traffic, and social media. To help get the word out about my shop, I created an Instagram account too!

  1. Annaleia, I loved reading this post! It's awesome that you opened an Etsy shop for your designs! I also started a business somewhat recently. It's been a little hard getting it up and running with school and everything else on my plate but I'm working towards my goals nonetheless. I currently offer virtual assistant services and social media management, so if you ever need help with the behind the scenes and daily tasks of your business I'm always down to work with a fellow classmate! Also, can I just mention how much I love your designs. I might just have to get a custom piece for my next tattoo. I'll definitely keep your Etsy shop in mind next time I'm looking for a design!

  2. When will you be designing one? Lol just kidding... kind of. Annaleia you never cease to amaze me with your creativity. Also if you are able to take what you love doing (designing) and make a profit from it, then that is the best thing to do. I look forward to your next blog.
